The service
Crab frames are what this shop is known for — standard patterns and custom builds, rolled and welded here, then netted in the loft next door. The same benches turn out pots for cod, crab, lobster and whelk, sea cucumber dredges, sorting grids, gangways, Jacob's ladders, rails and floating docks.
The other half of the work never goes near the water. Heavy equipment buckets come in worn and go out rebuilt, and the construction trade brings us welding repairs and maintenance. Some of that is repair, some of it is built new from a drawing.

Everything here is repaired or built new in one of our shops. Where a job has a drawing we build to it; where it does not, we measure the part.

Hardox goes where the wear is. Stainless and aluminium go where the salt is, or where weight matters.
The shop
Every photograph below is our own shop floor, our own machines, and work that went out the door — bare steel on one bench, a rebuild on the next, and pallets of finished gear in the yard.

Crab frames are rolled, jigged and welded in batches, then stacked on pallets and sent to a neighbouring branch for delivery. The highflyers alongside them are a separate line of work.

Steel out of this shop and twine out of the loft, on the same site. A frame does not have to travel to become a finished pot.

Wire feed, stick and aluminium welding on the floor, with repairs on one bench and new builds going together on the next.

Five-bar frames welded up in mild steel with the company name welded along the cutting bar, netted here, and back here for repair and re-netting when the ground has been hard on them.

A stainless dredge with the tape run across it before it leaves. Where there is no drawing we take the measurements off the part, and the part is checked against them.

A bucket comes in with the edge gone and the wear plate thin. It goes out with new steel where the ground took it — Hardox where the wear is worst — and the adapters set back true.

Worn plate cut out, new plate hoisted in on the chain block and welded home. Construction-industry repair on a machine that has to be fixed where it stands.

Netting on aluminium and steel frames for man-overboard recovery and rail safety — built to the vessel's freeboard, then rigged and checked on board before anyone relies on them.

Netting laced over the finished frame, then stacked and palletised in batches. Cod, crab, lobster and whelk pots all go together the same way, to the pattern the fishery works to.

A pot built on this floor, coming up full on a commercial trip. That is the standard the steel is built to — not the bench, the ground.
What you get back
A repair leaves here fit to go straight back on the machine or the boat. A new build leaves here to the drawing you gave us, or to the measurements we took off the part when there was no drawing.
And when it comes back worn — because working steel does — it comes back to the shop that built it.
