Why us, for this

The jobs that arrive as a problem rather than a part number.

Offshore and heavy marine work is a served industry for us, and we are careful to say exactly that: we supply rope systems, rigging, mooring and deck lifting support, inspection and testing, and custom fabrication. We hold no third-party approval for offshore work and do not present ourselves as holding any — better you hear that from us at the start than discover it during an audit.

What we do bring is the capacity to make a one-off and stand behind it. A recovery net on an aluminium frame for a survey vessel. A netted steel structure for a handling problem. A boarding ladder to a freeboard nobody stocks for. Behind that sit four shops, a 500,000 lb test bed, and a technical team working on applied research and development — under non-disclosure when the work needs it.

What we take on

Built to a problem, proved before it is relied on.

Named work, in our own shops. Where something is outside our scope, we say so rather than stretching the description.

  1. Heavy rope and wire systems

    Mooring and towing assemblies in DynIce, Dyneema and steel wire, made to a length and a load and terminated by hand or in the press.

  2. Deck lifting assemblies

    Slings, bridles, stays and one-off assemblies for deck handling, sized with splice loss accounted for and proof tested on our own bed.

  3. Recovery and safety nets

    Man-overboard recovery nets on aluminium and steel frames, scramble nets and rail safety netting, built to the vessel's freeboard and rigged and tested on board.

  4. Boarding equipment

    Pilot, Jacob's and embarkation ladders and gangways, built and rigged to the vessel rather than sold to a stock length.

  5. Netted frames and structures

    Steel and aluminium frames netted to purpose — sorting grids, holding, sampling and protection — welded, netted and rigged without leaving the shops.

  6. Fabrication and repair

    Steel, aluminium and Hardox, with refurbishment where a component can go back to work instead of being replaced.

  7. Inspection and proof testing

    Hands-on inspection of rope, wire and lifting gear, site inspection for supported work, and proof testing to 500,000 lb with a test certificate per item.

  8. Research and sampling equipment

    Customised research technologies, specialised sampling tools, and customised canvas for industrial and scientific applications.

The work that matters most in this sector is usually the work nobody can discuss. New and emerging technology development is sensitive by nature, and Hampidjan Canada is fully agreeable to working under non-disclosure and confidentiality terms — that is the company's own long-standing position, not a concession.

Behind it is a technical team engaged in applied research and commercial development, forty years of collaboration with industry, government and academia, and experience on the administrative side of a programme as well as the engineering: proposal writing, project implementation, project management and financial management.

Recovery nets on frames

Netted aluminium frames for man-overboard recovery, tagged and racked in the shop. Each is built and handled as a finished piece of safety equipment rather than as a net.

One company, four buildings, one schedule.

A one-off usually needs more than one trade. Because all four shops are ours, a job that needs the welder, the loft and the bed is moved between our own buildings instead of being split across three subcontractors and three schedules.

No. Offshore and heavy marine is an industry we serve, not a compliance claim we make. What we provide is rope systems, rigging, mooring and deck lifting support, inspection and testing, and custom fabrication. If your scope requires third-party approval, tell us early and we will say plainly whether we can support it and how.

Proof testing on our own 500,000 lb horizontal bed at Paradise, with the run recorded on the controller and a test certificate issued for each item stating what was tested and to what load. That is our document about your item.

The honest answer is that the interesting ones are one-offs: netted steel and aluminium structures, recovery nets to a vessel's freeboard, sea cucumber dredges on five-bar frames, sorting grids to a new size limit, research sampling gear and scaled models. If it can be made from steel, rope, netting or canvas, it has probably come through one of these shops.
